Recently, where there was news that the network marketing business in India has reached number 12 in the list of top business in the world, and now it is reported that the annual turnover of direct selling industry in Bihar is Rs 1301 crore. This industry is achieving annual growth rate of 6.88 percent. This has been revealed from the annual survey report of Ipsos Strategy 3 for 2020-21.
Recently, the Indian Direct Selling Association (IDSA) released the survey report data in Patna. This news is also wonderful because Bihar is considered a very backward state in our country, yet the direct selling market has brought this state to the pinnacle of success. However, IDSA President Rajat Banerjee has made many more revelations in his survey report that Bihar ranks fourth in the country in direct sales. It is followed by Maharashtra, West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh. 14 lakh 90 thousand people are associated with this industry in the state. In 2019-20, their number was 11 lakh 90 thousand. During the Corona period, the direct selling business proved to be a powerful means of earning livelihood and alternative sources of income for the people of the state.
According to Vivek Katoch of IDSA, Bihar has the highest number of 55 percent people in the health care sector. After this, 22 percent of the people in the direct selling industry are getting employment from the cosmetics sector. Women constitute 45 percent of this industry.
